Lunor's new shades and shapes for 2022

Lunor's new shades and shapes for 2022

Lunor is celebrating the new year by adding some new frames to their existing lines, but also by giving us some beautiful new shades of color. Colors that are a homage to the home of Lunor: the Black Forest…

When a design team is located in a beautiful place like the Black Forest, you can be sure the designers will find inspiration from their surroundings. This is definitely the case with German brand Lunor. Their new color shades are a direct nod to nature and in particular the colors you can see when night is falling in the forest. Rich forest green, translucent blue, transparent grey and matte black. Add to that some new warm Havana tones for their acetate frames and luxurious satin finishes for the metal frames.

Of course, 2022 not only brings us new shades but also new shapes. Lunor expanded their A11 acetate line with three new frames: a panto, an octagonal shape, and an anatomic shape. With these new colors and frames, Lunor is definitely ready for the new year!

We’ve recently updated our Lunor showroom that you can find here.

Protect the earth together with Van der Ham Optometrists

Protect the earth together with Van der Ham Optometrists

Nana Woody & John is your one-stop-shop for the coolest eyewear brands and the best opticians out there. Why are they the best? Because of their expertise, of course, but also because they know how to make shopping for eyewear a whole new experience...

Take for instance Van der Ham Optometrists in Oud-Beijerland. A few weeks ago, they gave their store a little make-over. A green one, to be exact. In order to make people aware of their collaboration with Earth Today, Van der Ham transformed the store into a little urban jungle. Now, no one can miss that when you buy a frame here, 10m2 of nature will be protected in a sustainable manner in your name.

With #aclearvisionofnature, Van der Ham joins forces with Earth Today because only when you have clear vision, you can see what nature truly has to offer. Earth Today is a global initiative to accelerate the protection of nature by making people aware of the need to protect nature and by offering them the chance to help protect it by donating money. In return, you will receive a unique digital proof of protection, registered to your name.

For us, this is the perfect example of a store that does more than ‘simply selling frames’ and we love it!

Past, present and future combined in Silhouette’s Futura Dot

Past, present and future combined in Silhouette’s Futura Dot

In 1973 Silhouette launched the Futura collection. Originally designed for the catwalk only, these frames were an instant hit amongst fashion lovers. Today, Silhouette took these designs as a starting point for the new limited-edition Futura Dot frame...

The Futura Dot 4500

The popularity of the original Futura collection from 1973 was not expected. Even though people in the seventies were used to wearing color, prints and flamboyant styles, the Futura 562 frames were still very much out there compared to other eyewear of that time. Completely round with a lens opening that accentuated the eyebrows, made of thick plastic in a bold yellow, these frames were not for the shy. The success of the Futura 562 sparked other Futura collections, all with that same futuristic, bold design language.

Almost fifty years after that first Futura collection, Silhouette introduces us to the Futura Dot. It doesn’t come as a surprise that the dot plays a central role in this design: it is first milled in the center part of the frame and then painted by hand to accentuate it. The contours are also hand-painted, giving the frame a graphic feel but also accentuating the shape of the glasses.

Inspiration for the Futura Dot was taken from another limited edition from Silhouette: the Futura 571 that came out in 1974. The shape of these plastic frames and the prominent dot on the nose bridge are translated into a version that feels futuristic in 2022, but also has a real retro vibe. Past, present and future all in one.

If you want to get your hands on a pair, you have to be quick. Only 1964 pairs were made. This number is not as random as it may sound: 1964 is the year Silhouette was founded.

Of course, we have an up-to-date showroom of Silhouette. You can find it here.

Sunny new collection from AM Eyewear

Sunny new collection from AM Eyewear

At the Nana Woody & John headquarters, it is still Winter. And it will take a few more months for the sun to come back. Come back from where? Well, AM Eyewear found the Summer sun hiding at Bali where they shot a beautiful - and sunny - new campaign...

The campaign centers around the new Kochi collection of sunglasses and optical glasses. And while Summer probably feels very far away for most of us, these images do give us a very nice first preview of what the SS22 trends in sunglasses will be.

AM Eyewear founder Simon Ponnusamy found inspiration for these frames during his last time traveling the world before the pandemic hit. He went on a pilgrimage to India where he encountered many facets of Indian culture and nature that enchanted him. There, he came across the most beautiful rare gems, crystals, and talismans. These are used in many cultures to enhance positivity and to focus on the right things in life.

Ponnusamy’s memories of this trip were translated into a collection brimming with new colors and shapes. AM Eyewear’s hope is that their frames can function as some sort of talisman for its wearer. Looking through the lenses can quite literally give you a new perspective on the world around you and a focus on the things that are important in life. A big task for a pair of glasses if we may say so. Well, luckily these frames also just make you look damn good.

The art of perfection and a new showroom to discover

The art of perfection and a new showroom to discover

Japanese eyewear manufacturer Charmant has a solid reputation when it comes to the production of high-quality frames and sunglasses in several materials and most of all in state-of-the-art titanium.

With it’s longlasting experience and craftmanship it is totally qualified to design and produce something really special. And that is exactly what Charmant does by launching a complete new collection called Minamoto.

Minamoto means ‘origin’ in Japanese. A very suitable name for this new eyewear brand, because Minamoto is all about honoring the long Japanese tradition of the design and production of eyewear. Inspiration for their titanium designs for men and women is taken directly from the historical collection of frames from the brand’s founder.

Minamoto's collections embody tradition and history, but in such a way that they are also unmistakably from our times. As they like to say: sometimes you have to look to the past to find your future.

Do you want to discover more of Minamoto? Have a look at the collection in our showroom!
