Stand out in the crowd with the new collection of Cazal

Stand out in the crowd with the new collection of Cazal

The design language of Cazal is so unique, that you simply can't mistake them with any other brand. Ever since its foundation, Cazal designs have been striking and extravagant and by looking at their latest collection you can see that hasn’t changed a bit.

Cazal is not afraid to stand out. On the contrary. As they say themselves, it’s in their DNA to be different than everybody else. And that shows again in their latest collection. The designs for men and women are expressive as usual, full of details, and unmistakably Cazal.

The optical frames  are made from titanium in gold or silver with black detailing or with silver with gold combined. Either way, the details are what you expect from Cazal: branding on the nose bridges, interesting play with lines and textures, and graphic shapes.

Of course, Cazal also presented some new sunglasses. Again, bold frames with which you definitely stand out from the crowd. Icons in the making!

The new collection is accompanied by a brand-new campaign that focuses on the expression of your own personality through your individual style. Anything goes, as long as it’s not ordinary.

If you want to see what else Cazal has in store for you, check out our showroom with a selection of their collection.

Etnia Barcelona Foundation X Open Arms

Etnia Barcelona Foundation X Open Arms

Buying cool sunglasses and at the same time helping NGO Open Arms. Is that possible, you may ask. Thanks to the Etnia Barcelona Foundation X Open Arms collaboration it is. When you buy the Solidarity Pack 100% of profits go directly to Open Arms.

Open Arms is a humanitarian, non-governmental, and non-profit organization whose mission it is to protect the life of the most vulnerable in emergency situations in international waters. They found a perfect partner in Etnia Barcelona. This Spanish eyewear brand has had its own foundation that focuses on solidarity projects for years.

For Open Arms, Etnia Barcelona created the Solidarity Pack that consists of a pair of bright red sunglasses made from biodegradable acetate with HD polarized sunglasses, a neoprene cord and the #LIFE sweatshirt from Open Arms. You can buy it online at the Etnia Barcelona website or in the flagship store in Barcelona and all profits (100%!) go to Open Arms.

Yesterday, December 1st, the documentary ‘Our Voices’ was presented to the press: during a trip to the Malakasa and Ritsona refugee camps in Athens, three survivors tell their story in a bid to open people’s eyes about the difficulties of the migration crisis. To get people’s attention on the project, the Etnia Barcelona flagship store was completely wrapped in gold thermal blankets for that day, showing their solidarity with people in search of a better life in Europe.

Besides this special edition pair of sunglasses, Etnia Barcelona has a large collection of glasses and sunglasses. Have a look at them in our showroom.

New showroom alert: Maison Henry Jullien

New showroom alert: Maison Henry Jullien

Maison Henry Jullien has been making glasses and sunglasses since as early as 1921. Henry Jullien thought eyewear to be as important as jewelry. We've recently added their showroom to our website so you can see for yourself what this brand is all about...

Maison Henry Jullien frames are made by hand and require over 279 operations and almost 4 months of work. No surprise, when you look at the fine detailing on for instance the hinges of these metal frames and their temple tips.

Over the years, the house also developed a special technique for their gold metal frames. This technique differs from traditional gold platting in that the gold is inextricably linked to the metal base of the frame, giving these frames extreme longevity.

Besides their Gold Filled collection, Maison Henry Jullien also has a Nano Fit collection, with all frames weigh no less than a maximum of 5 grams. This eyewear brand offers classic and elegant frames that never go out of style. You can see for yourself in our Maison Henry Jullien showroom.

Keep it light during those dark days with ESPRIT

Keep it light during those dark days with ESPRIT

The colder it gets, the more we hide in big coats, chunky scarfs, and warm beanies. With so much going on around your face, why not keep your eyewear simple and subtle? Esprit has some beautiful frames to lighten things up this winter...

Being a Californian brand that embodies the sunny lifestyle, it comes as no surprise that Esprit will always try to keep your wardrobe – and your eyewear – light and breezy. Even in winter. One way to do that is with color. Forget about black and brown. In the Esprit winter collection, you will find nice dark yellows that remind us of sunlight, bright blues like the ocean, and soft greens to resemble Spring grass.

To keep things light, Esprit has eyewear to match. Delicate metal glasses in silver and gold or clear acetate ones with a touch of color and some nice gold details. To protect your eyes against low-hanging rays of winter sun, wear some Esprit sunglasses. Whether you prefer the more oversized acetate ones or the smaller metal frames, all sunglasses share the same understated aesthetic. With an Esprit frame on you can be sure that even though you are wearing a ton of clothes with glasses on top of that, people will still be able to see your face shine through.

Cat-eyes forever!

Cat-eyes forever!

Cat-eye glasses have stood the test of time. Ever since they became popular in the 1950s, women all over the world have been wearing this style. Even today, a lot of brands have one or more cat-eyes in their collection. We've selected the best for you...

Liu-Jo

Let’s start with a little history lesson, shall we? The idea for the shape came from one Altina Schinasi, who worked as a window dresser in New York in the 1930s. There was an optician nearby her store, and she noticed the lack of options in feminine frames. She came up with the idea for pointy glasses but had a hard time at first selling the idea to manufacturers. There was one shop in New York though, that saw something in her design, and they started selling them, with success.

Calvin Klein

Akoni

The original cat-eyes from the 1940s and 1950s were made for optical lenses only. The lenses were quite small and narrow, with a pointy, upward tip on both sides of the often heavily embellished frame. In the 1960s, lenses became bigger and the style transformed to a more oversized one. It wasn’t until Audrey Hepburn wore a pair of cat-eye sunglasses in her film Breakfast at Tiffanys, that the shape became popular for sunglasses as well.

Silhouette

Masunaga

Over the years, the cat-eye frame has adjusted itself to the fashion of the times, but the feline shape with the upward sides always stayed recognizable. There are metal cat-eyes, acetate ones, oversized and bold frames but also more subtle minimalistic versions. We’ve made a nice selection of cat-eyes from our showroom to hopefully inspire you to give them a try next time you visit your local optician.
