Five year anniversary for Max voor Ogen

Five year anniversary for Max voor Ogen

Time for a celebration this week at Max Voor Ogen in Schagen. It’s been exactly five years since Marc and Nancy Brienesse took over the store from Max and Marijke. It marked the beginning of a beautiful adventure…

Marc and Nancy had a vision of what Max Voor Ogen should be and they used these past five years to make that vision a reality together with their team. The store is now unique in its kind in the Schagen area. Something Marc and Nancy are rightly proud of and that makes them enjoy going to work every day. You only have to look at their beautiful selection of brands to understand why. Amongst the selection we see for instance Cazal and Linda Farrow, but also Res/Rei, Lunor, and Etnia Barcelona.

Nancy is an optometrist with many years of experience. So you can be certain that at Max Voor Ogen you will not only find the frame that suits you best, but that your eyes will receive all the care they need and deserve.

Congratulations Marc and Nancy and on to the next five years!

Web Eyewear X Alfa Romeo Formula 1 Team

Web Eyewear X Alfa Romeo Formula 1 Team

An exciting collaboration was announced this week: Web Eyewear is becoming the official partner of the Alfa Romeo F1 Team ORLEN. Web's logo will be on the team's cars, helmets, and suits, and later in the year a special collection will be released...

When two Italian brands like Alfa Romeo and Web Eyewear join forces, we can only be excited for what is to come. Italians are known for their elegance and impeccable style, so this partnership makes us eager to see what they come up with together. Unfortunately, we have to wait until later this year to get our hands on the collection of sunglasses and optical glasses. So, for now we will have to make do with some nice pictures of the team’s drivers Valtteri Bottas en Guanyu Zhou wearing their Web sunglasses. We’ll keep you posted!

Protect the earth together with Van der Ham Optometrists

Protect the earth together with Van der Ham Optometrists

Nana Woody & John is your one-stop-shop for the coolest eyewear brands and the best opticians out there. Why are they the best? Because of their expertise, of course, but also because they know how to make shopping for eyewear a whole new experience...

Take for instance Van der Ham Optometrists in Oud-Beijerland. A few weeks ago, they gave their store a little make-over. A green one, to be exact. In order to make people aware of their collaboration with Earth Today, Van der Ham transformed the store into a little urban jungle. Now, no one can miss that when you buy a frame here, 10m2 of nature will be protected in a sustainable manner in your name.

With #aclearvisionofnature, Van der Ham joins forces with Earth Today because only when you have clear vision, you can see what nature truly has to offer. Earth Today is a global initiative to accelerate the protection of nature by making people aware of the need to protect nature and by offering them the chance to help protect it by donating money. In return, you will receive a unique digital proof of protection, registered to your name.

For us, this is the perfect example of a store that does more than ‘simply selling frames’ and we love it!

Etnia Barcelona Foundation X Open Arms

Etnia Barcelona Foundation X Open Arms

Buying cool sunglasses and at the same time helping NGO Open Arms. Is that possible, you may ask. Thanks to the Etnia Barcelona Foundation X Open Arms collaboration it is. When you buy the Solidarity Pack 100% of profits go directly to Open Arms.

Open Arms is a humanitarian, non-governmental, and non-profit organization whose mission it is to protect the life of the most vulnerable in emergency situations in international waters. They found a perfect partner in Etnia Barcelona. This Spanish eyewear brand has had its own foundation that focuses on solidarity projects for years.

For Open Arms, Etnia Barcelona created the Solidarity Pack that consists of a pair of bright red sunglasses made from biodegradable acetate with HD polarized sunglasses, a neoprene cord and the #LIFE sweatshirt from Open Arms. You can buy it online at the Etnia Barcelona website or in the flagship store in Barcelona and all profits (100%!) go to Open Arms.

Yesterday, December 1st, the documentary ‘Our Voices’ was presented to the press: during a trip to the Malakasa and Ritsona refugee camps in Athens, three survivors tell their story in a bid to open people’s eyes about the difficulties of the migration crisis. To get people’s attention on the project, the Etnia Barcelona flagship store was completely wrapped in gold thermal blankets for that day, showing their solidarity with people in search of a better life in Europe.

Besides this special edition pair of sunglasses, Etnia Barcelona has a large collection of glasses and sunglasses. Have a look at them in our showroom.

Supreme X Carrera. The coolest cats out there.

Supreme X Carrera. The coolest cats out there.

It's one of the coolest brands out there: Supreme. Known for its red and white logo and its multiple collaborations with other brands that are as diverse as Skittles, Louis Vuitton, or Hästens. And now, Carrera is added to that famous list as well...

Supreme started out as a skater brand, and it still is. But their collaborations with other brands have attracted so much attention over the years, that you’d almost forget they sell ‘normal’ clothes and accessories as well. These collaborations give the public products they already know, but with a Supreme sauce over it and of course, a Supreme logo on it. To give you an idea, here are some cool examples…

Back to Carrera. This eyewear company has been making eyewear since 1956. It was named after an open road racing event in Mexico in the early 1950s, that was considered to be one of the most dangerous car races in the world. In the 1970s Carrera successfully collaborated with another company that loves car racing as much as they do: Porsche Design. Together, they launched an eyewear collection with some futuristic shield designs that to this day are considered to be iconic.

For the Supreme X Carrera collaboration, they took inspiration from a vintage pair of Carrera goggles. Both companies keep silent about which frame exactly, but we suspect it has to be the Porsche Design Carrera 5600 ski goggles. They do look a lot alike, don’t they?

So, which one do you prefer? The original or the Supreme edition?!
