Sun is shining and so are you

It took some – okay, a lot of – patience from our side, but it looks like the sun is finally here. That calls for a celebration! Al fresco lunches in the park, pre-dinner drinks on the beach, and dinner in the city. See and be seen, all day long.

And what better way to look good in the summertime, than with some nice new sunglasses? Not only are they the first thing people see when they look at you, but they also protect your eyes from harmful UV rays. And let’s be honest, you only have one pair of eyes so better take good care of them.

The beauty is there are sunglasses for everyone’s taste. It doesn’t matter if you are the sporty type that loves to go and hike in nature or if you haven’t been out of the city in years. There are sunglasses for people who spent a lot of time on the road and therefore need high functionality from their glasses. And if you want to perfectly match your sunglasses with your new shoes and handbag, that’s also not a problem.

Retro-inspired styles are never out of style, and this year is of course no exception. New for 2021 are the big acetate frames with rectangular or cat-eye shapes with bold temples. For those who prefer metal frames, there are loads of options too. Oversized or small and understated, like we saw in the nineties.

But, where to find that perfect pair? At your local high-end optician of course. For the Netherlands, we selected a few of the best opticians for you to choose from. In each of those stores, you will find a great selection of frames from the best brands, for you to try on. And while you are there, why not have your eyes checked? Whether you need prescription glasses or not, an eye check-up is the best gift to your eyes.

The new sunglasses from Silhouette

The new sunglasses from Silhouette

For this new series of rimless sunglasses from the SUN Collection 2023, the designers of Silhouette were inspired by the beautiful beaches and idyllic villages in and around Barcelona in Spain.

If you know Calella, Cadaqués, Begur or Bogatell and have been there before, reading this story will undoubtedly make you want to pack your bags and go there to enjoy the beach, sea, sun, terraces and that wonderful Mediterranean atmosphere.

The, as always with these eyeglass makers, subtle designs with this time large oversized lenses in seventies style give every outfit a little extra glamour and at the same time protect the eyes against harmful sun rays and intrusive paparazzi.

To see how these sunglasses and many other models from top brands look, just follow us on Facebook or Instagram where we show daily how well-chosen glasses and sunglasses can make the difference with every outfit!

MaxMara

The Italian eyewear manufacturer Marcolin, with a portfolio of leading brands, follows the shows closely and shows on Instagram a few images of each show and the (sun) glasses that the designer uses to express his or her vision of the upcoming sunglasses trend. Like every show, this produces beautiful pictures of top brands such as MaxMara, Tod's, GCDS and, for example, Bally and gives you an idea of where (sun) eyewear fashion is heading.

Porsche Design surprises with new top model

Porsche Design surprises with new top model

Making visually beautiful things is a challenge for every designer in every industry and certainly also in the optical field, but of course functional innovations are maybe even more interesting and important.

Functionality is not always beautiful and that is why functional adjustments are often hidden and made invisible. At Porsche Design, they think differently. The statement with their latest glasses design is therefore:

"In most designs, the function remains hidden.
But we don’t want to hide something UNIQUE."

Because the new hinges in the most exclusive Porsche Design frame to date are not only a functional improvement, but also very beautiful and should therefore be seen. Porsche Design ambassador Patrick Dempsey wears this new luxury frame with style and proves once again that a beautiful and well-chosen frame can really be an eye-catcher and the finishing touch to any outfit.
