Eyewear trends of AW21/22

A new season brings new trends and we at NanaWoody&John thought it was about time to get you updated on the eyewear trends of this year’s Fall and Winter season.

Big & Bold

In the past years, thin-rimmed glasses and sunglasses have been very popular. We’ve seen them everywhere. And of course, as happens with so many trends, the opposite of this minimalistic style is now becoming more and more trendy. Say ‘bye bye’ to subtlety and ‘hello!’ to bigger and bolder styles that come in both metal and acetate.

AM EYEWEAR

Distinguishable luxury

The previous trend of big & bold goes hand in hand with the tendency to wear exclusive statement frames as real fashion accessories. It’s perfectly okay for people to notice your glasses or sunglasses and remember them. Don’t ever be shy about wearing glasses and showing people what you like, be proud!

AKONI

Sustainable eyewear

Just like in other realms of the fashion world, sustainability is getting a lot of attention in the world of eyewear. Brands try to reduce their carbon footprint, streamline their production processes and look for new and better materials to use. Lens companies experiment with using less water while producing lenses and of course, recycling materials is a big thing.

ECO EYEWEAR

Slow fashion

A big part of becoming more sustainable as an eyewear brand is making your customers aware of the importance of buying high-quality glasses and sunglasses that will last you a long time. No need to throw away your frames after just one season because of faulty screws, a bad fit, or cheap materials that scratch and break. Fast fashion is so last season.

EQUE.M

Tinted lenses

We saw this trend first with rimless frames, but it soon extended to other styles. With tinted lenses, you can give the frame of your choice that bit extra and make them more fitting with your personal style and taste. The best opticians out there offer a wide range of options from soft pink or orange to cooler tones like blue and green.

LIU-JO

Unisex

Why constrict yourself to women’s glasses when you can also rock some cool, bold frames from Cazal? And if you love a cat-eye, why not wear it even though you’re a guy? No one can decide which frames work for you and which do not, but you. Be yourself, choose whatever you like and rock that style!

How to match your glasses with your (new) clothes. The Victoria Beckham edition.

How to match your glasses with your (new) clothes. The Victoria Beckham edition.

Victoria Beckham is all about glamour and sophistication and her eyewear collection is a perfect match to her style. We made a small selection of frames that match perfectly with some of the beautiful dresses and outfits from her new collection.

Coming season, Victoria Beckham is giving us what she is good at: classic and elegant silhouettes with a good dose of glamour. We’re seeing lots of black, but she’s also adding some nice floral prints to this collection. Add to that classic camel and bright red, and you get the basic feeling of what Victoria thinks we should wear the coming months.

Her eyewear collection consists of variations on classic models like aviators and cat-eyes, mixed with more contemporary shapes and made of either bold acetate or more refined metals. And of course, often oversized. A simple way to add some glamour to your wardrobe and your appearance!

The Black Label Eyewear wants to see YOU!

The Black Label Eyewear wants to see YOU!

If you like to wear glasses, but you don’t want them to overtake your face and be the first and perhaps only thing people see when they meet you, then the frames of The Black Label Eyewear are worth checking out. Sophisticated but also minimal and elegant.

For some, it is exactly what they look for in a frame, for others not so much: frames that are bold, oversized, and colorful and that you really can’t miss. The type of glasses that people refer to when they speak about you to someone else. ‘You know, he’s the guy who always wears those big, bright blue glasses.’

If you prefer people noticing your eyes or smile before they realize you are wearing glasses, you will probably like the Dutch brand The Black Label Eyewear because they basically have you in mind when they design their collections.

Two pillars carry the collections of The Black Label Eyewear: one is all about classic but stylish simplicity and the other focuses on giving oversized, iconic designs a modern and refined make-over.

The Black Label Eyewear’s design philosophy can basically be summarized by just one sentence: It’s the face wearing the frame, not the other way around. And when you look at the collection, you can tell they always put this idea first.

Vintage driving with Brett

Vintage driving with Brett

For their new campaign, Brett introduces us to Neo Heroes: men that drive vintage cars and motorcycles with character that are operated manually. Men that prefer the analog over the digital. Men that wear Brett.

Brett found their new brand ambassador in the person of Julien Chaffard, who is the founder of the world’s first racing school where drivers can go back in time to the sixties and seventies while driving in vintage race cars. This Classic Racing School is situated on the Charade circuit, also known as the Circuit Clermont-Ferrand, where during the late sixties and early seventies four Formula 1 races were held.

Julien perfectly embodies the two types of men Brett eyewear is made for: the tough race car driver who loves mechanics and isn’t afraid of getting his hands dirty, and the elegant gentleman who appreciates the finer things in life. They are opposites, but at the same time belong together.

Patrick Dempsey and Porsche Design are back at it

Patrick Dempsey and Porsche Design are back at it

Earlier this year, we wrote about how Porsche Design and Patrick Dempsey are the perfect match. Seeing their new Fall campaign, we can confirm they still are. Dempsey shines in it, wearing two new frames that are available at selected stores as of now...

If the iconic Porsche 911 car is on the top of your list of Most Desirable Cars, then this titanium prescription frame should be on the top of another of your lists: Most Beautiful Frames I’d love to Wear. As part of the Liquid Titanium collection, this lightweight model is inspired by the silhouette of the 911. The P’8387 frame is casual, but classy. Sporty, but chic. Same as with the car basically. Patrick Dempsey looks good wearing it, and we’re pretty sure you will too.

Porsche also introduces a new pair of titanium sunglasses to its collection. These squared aviators have the interchangeable lens system Porsche invented in the late 1970s, but now even more visible than in the original frame with this system. It gives these sunglasses an extra strong and masculine feel, while still being classy and timeless.
